About MEPCO
MEPCO is a true mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP) company that was developed by a merger of Mike's Ice & Refrigeration Co. Ltd, Alba Electrical Contractors Ltd. and B.P.C. Ltd based in the Cayman Islands. All disciplines are housed and managed within a single company in order to maximize coordination, communication and efficiency. This all creates a truly legitimate MEP construction and service company.
MEPCO was formed with one mission in mind, to allow property owners, developers, architects and general contractors to deliver a competitive edge for their projects. By overcoming the biggest hurdle in determining if they have a full, complete and compliant bid for the individual MEP disciplines and the typical grey areas and overlaps are covered by one or the other of those disciplines does just that.
MEPCO’s integrated coordination of multiple disciplines starts during the tender process through its dedicated centralized pre-construction/estimating department to coordinate the multiple disciplines. This allows the general contractors, architects, engineers and owners to address the numerous issues that may arise before the project is mobilized, and minimizes the amount of potential conflict in the field. In addition the department will provide value engineering and design build assistance when necessary.

Mike moved to Grand Cayman in 1972 and opened the first Ice plant with father after completing his Engineering degree at the University of Liverpool. From the success of the ice plant grew the air conditioning and refrigeration divisions and later, plumbing and fire protection. He and James Laurenson became business partners in Alba Electrical, which has been a successful venture, fulfilling Mike's goal of a full ME&P. Mike has invested heavily into these Islands that he called home for over 37 years.
He has earned a positive reputation as being an honest, hard-working dependable businessman. Mike's word is is bond, and for that and other reasons, he has been able to grow his business, maintain an excellent reputation, and have a strong relationship with the community. Mike's Ice & Refrigeration Limited, Alba Electrical Contractors Limited, and BPC Limited, have joined together to form MEPCO Limited, which fulfills a need in our community.
James Laurenson
Director
James with his success in the electrical contracting business has established himself as one of the most respected Master Electricians in the Cayman Islands. James has worked in the Cayman Islands for over 21 years, following a well rounded 5 year electrical apprenticeship, and gaining an HNC in Electrical Engineering with Henry Rodd Ship Builders in Edinburgh, as well as a successful career at the Torness Nuclear Power Station in the Scottish Borders.
During his many years on the Island, James has developed invaluable relationships with key project managers, major construction companies, realty companies, architects and the local Cayman Government Planning Authorities. He has proven his knowledge, skills, expertise and dedication to completing project work on time and to the highest of quality standards.
James believes in his company with a passion which is growing at a steady rate, year on year, to enable him to maintain a solid and sustainable business portfolio in the long term. He also understands the key to this success is bringing the right people with relevant knowledge, skills, customer focus and above all, a passion for the company and it's values. James is extremely supportive of the local community, heavily involved in local charity events, and the sponsoring of local sports clubs and competitions.
